Gun Handling is it a Skill?

4/28/2020

So what is the big deal about Gun Handling? Why do others say it is  extremely important while others think it's no big deal. Let me explain, why Gun Handling is a learned skill. To the untrained eye it's merely handling a gun, but to a craftsman of skill and technique its takes many hours and repetition to learn gun handling skills. Of course, safety matters in handling a gun, but many people believe they can buy a gun and handle it like in the movies. That would not be the people I would rely on for seeing and understanding how to skillfully handle a gun. In training many people of the years, I see this over and over again, when explaining, demonstrating and training people in the skills needed to handle a gun. There is a whole other level, then picking it up and knowing what you are doing with it. A true craftsman will respect it and be confident when handling it wether for fun, training or drawing from holster and much more. For example a master mechanic has ability to fix many different types of cars by being able to hear whats wrong before they ever open the hood because of their confidence in their knowledge. A  professional baseball, tennis, and golf players rely on coaches and trainers to teach a skill by repeating it over and over to become confident in their profession. A level of commitment is also needed to gain skills and level of confidence to become a true craftsman in gun handling skills.  Thats why we spend some much time, on safety, mechanics, mindset and finally marksmanship to achieve the skills of gun handling.

Thinking of Training with New Firearm ?

People that are looking for training go about this in many different ways. I would like to suggest a way that  I think will get you with the best Instructor /trainer.

First - you decide what type of training you are looking to have, whether it's "I got a brand new gun", Basic,         Defensive, Texas License to carry or Instructor Training.

Second - are you wanting training that starts out as personal- private lesson or in a group or classroom setting.

Third - are you looking for during the week or weekends or flexible times?

Fourth - once you have these few thoughts laid out I would start calling different Instructors or ranges to see what they offer.

This way you can get a feel for the person that will train you. Are they helpful?  Answering your questions? Listening to your concerns and time preferences? Do they rent equipment for you to try? Over all do you think they will give you the training you are searching for?

I hope this helps guide you in the direction to find the Best Instructor/ Trainer for you. Please check us out  for all the different ways we can help you become Successful in your Training.
